Hands up who remembers what happened at Indy last time out? Everyone? Swell...keep your hands up if you'd rather forget what happened last time out. OK...let's forget about it then. Prior to that FUBAR the US Grand Prix had been held at the home of the Indy 500 since 2000 where Michael Schumacher has won the majority of the races one way or another.

Well DC got himself battered in the first round of qualifying and had to start 17th. Jenson dodged a bullet in the first session but thenwent on to make it to the final round though, with Montoya and Webber not making the cut. Ralf was the first guy to hit the front in the final session only for Michael to then hit the front, then Alonso grabbed provisional pole but he'd go on to start in fifth. Ferrari front row with Michael on pole, Button 7th.

Not that the Englishman had much luck in the race itself. Button's Honda got itself caught in an early tangle with the two McLarens that went on to send several cars out. Button survived the initial insanity but then needed to go into the pits to confirm that he hadn't suffered any damage and then had to pull out altogether after three laps with his car running out of water due to damage he had taken.

DC on the other hand was one of the beneficaries of the carnage, making his way up to tenth. He needed the resulting dueling with Liuzzi like he needed a hole in the head but given further attrition in this race, the Toro Rosso's efforts weren't particularly damaging, particularly with the Scotsman getting the better of his opponent in the end and grabbing two more points.

Out front though, Massa was the early leader and it needed pitstops from Michael to get past his Brazilian teammate again though Ferrari still finished 1-2, third win of the year for Michael and first Ferrari 1-2 of the year. Alonso led for one lap but he was never going to be a serious contender for this race and finished in fifth. Fisichella took care of Renault business to grab third and Trulli took fourth.

Lessons learned from Indy:

Juan Pablo Montoya: When looking for a job for next year it is never a good idea to take your teammate off.

The Championship currently looks like this: Alonso still leads with 88 points, Michael on second with 69, Fisichella's up to third with 43 points and Raikonen down to fourth with 39. Massa in fifth with 36, Montoya in 6th with 26, Button's in seventh with 16 points(and a podium from Malaysia) and further down DC is in 10th with 10 points.
