ANOTHER ALONSO WIN

OK...so the F1 show took a time out from Europe to do a couple of races on the other side of the Atlantic. First stop was the Giles Villenerve circuit in Montreal, a regular event on the F1 calander for ages though the circuit will probably never be seen as a classic, despite the fact that it's "wall of Champions" has picked up a habit of munching big names over the past few years.

Well in qualifying DC wound up dodging a bullet in the first session though survived - not that Webber was so lucky. DC went on to fall at the second hurdle and would start 16th(though would later go to the back of the grid after an engine change). Button made it into the top 10 for the first time since Spain though. In the final session, Michael took first blood, then Raikonen grabbed pole before Alonso evcentually taking the hnours, heading up a Renault 1-2 with Button in 8th.

In the race itself - well Jenson made it up to sixth at one point thanks to an early incident which forced Rosberg into retirement before the Brit then had to go into the pits, leaving him in 11th. Eventually the guy got himself back up to 8th and looked solid for a much needed point but instead lost it and wound up in ninth. Definately an improvement.

DC in the meantime well he may have started at the back of the grid but he was in no mood to hang around there very long and the Red Bul just blasted his way through the back. After a late safety car he was in 10th with Klien and Jenson in front of him, first he took Klein before surging past Jenson to grab the point off him. Mixed feelings on that though - got a feeling Jenson needs the points more than DC right now.

As for what happened at the front, Alonso won, no one else ever lookd like catching him and that's the Spaniard's fourth win in a row. The biggest question was going to be who would come second and that battle was between Michael and Raikonen. Kimi went on to seemingly win that duel thanks to a late pit stop from Michael only for a Villenerve crash to leave a an absolute ton of marbles on the track and give the German second.

So, after that the championship looks like this. Alonso leading on 84 points. Michael's second on 59. Raikonen's third on 39, Fisichella's fourth on 37, Massa's fifth on 28, Montoya's sixth on 26 and Button's seventh on 16. Lower down, DC is tenth(by my reckoning he has the edge on Ralf due to having three retirements to the German's four.

Next stop Indy.
