SO WHO IS MATT G?

That guy in the photo is Matt G.

So...what else can I tell you?

My full name's Matthew Grimsey...well, Matt to my mates, Matt to most people nowadays.

Born in Bristol, south west England, three months prematurely on 28th August 1982, and as a result I've got a disability called left-sided hemiphlegia which...bottom line...means that the left side of my body is a lot weaker than my right hand side, legend has it that the doctors back then weren't sure that I'd ever be able to walk or talk. Well...I can walk and I can talk. OK...I tend to walk slower than average and my speech can be pretty dodgy but that's a lot better than I'm supposed to be doing.

So...I eventually got out of hospital...and what happened after that? Well I spent my infancy in Yeovil (smaller town than Bristol, also in south west England) before the whole family moved 500 miles north to a village called Westhill, about 7 miles west of Aberdeen in northeast Scotland. 4am wake up calls for trips to visit family back in southwest England ahoy! Having said that I did make a lot of friends up there...and I recently got back in contact with some of them.

Next stop was Teddington, a suburb of south west London, spent seven years there doing GCSE's and A Levels before starting at South Bank University in central London. I spent two years on an Internet Computing degree while living in a Halls of Residence flat before that went down the drain and I got hauled back to Teddington, switched degrees Business Information Technology and got a 2.2

As of late May 2006 though, home has become south west England again. Or to be precise, Exeter, a city(it has a cathedral) smaller than Bristol but larger than Yeovil and with a lot of family history. And from September '06 I can now call myself a homeowner. Brand new build, very nice looking and now fully connected to the Internet! Just come off a week's work trial with Pluss, a local disability aid organisation, which won't go any further.

While I'm at it, here's a map of the UK showing you where those various locations I mentioned are at (taken from www.maporama.com):

As for when I'm chilling, well you'll find me chilling online a lot of the time. And when I'm offline, let me see...maybe I'll be reading, maybe I'll be swimming, maybe I'll be at the gym, maybe I'll be watching TV, boozing with mates, at the cinema, getting out a DVD...assuming I'm in town.

However, when I get out of town then I like to do a bit of surfing. Maybe in Devon , sometimes in Cornwall (keep going southwest), a few times in Wales and one time in California. Mainly boogie boarding(just got a fresh board)with some attempts at full boarding. Top of my surf highlight reel is Venice Beach, LA (circa '99) and Fistral Beach, Newquay Cornwall, home of the surfing world championships (early July '05).

As for my overall travelling - well have a look at this:

Or this one (if you want to just focus on Europe)

To be precise...indicated on these maps in red are the countries I've set foot in:

The UK (home sweet home), Portugal (visited the Algarve in '95), France (French exchange to Normandy and Paris in '97 and a family trip to the Picard area(north coast) a few months back), Germany (German exchange to Konstanz (small town ten seconds from Swiss border)in '98, plus a trip to Munich with my German A level group in May 2000), Switzerland (well Konstanz was ten seconds from the Swiss border), Austria (neither Konstanz nor Munich are far away from here either, did a day in Salzburg during the 2000 trip) USA (California '99), Spain (Easter 2000), Romania (did about a month's work for a US company in a town called Cluj-Napoca in the summer of '04), Hungary (saw the 2004 Hungarian Grand Prix and did Budapest while I was at it), Antigua (Xmas '04-New Year '05) and the Republic of Ireland( toured the place with Dad in summer '07).

Overall, I'm a fairly chilled, single guy, good at socialising one on one, not so good in larger groups usually, like to be there for friends and family and have picked up mates from all over the place online and offline.

On my ipod you'll find stuff by the Offspring, Smashmouth, OPM, Coldplay, BRMC, Franz Ferdinand, the Prodigy, Oxide and Neutrino, the Automatic, Lost Prophets, the Die another Day and MI:2 soundtracks along with a CD by an obscure environmentalist bunch called Rainbow Nation (not a greenie myself but their guitarist's a mate of mine and they do play good music).

Food wise I'm basically a carnivore. Roasts, ribs, steak, pizza, chicken, burgers, ice cream, beer (or apple juice, coffee or straight water if I don't feel like boozing)...you get the picture.

Right now, I'm doing preliminary website work for Grim Sea, a company my Dad's starting up that's going to supply diving equipment. Paid but only eight hours a week so I'm looking for more solid work.

As it it, I'm heading to Heathrow tomorrow then flying out to Bahrain for the Bahrain Grand Prix. I'll be back in about a week's time, so see you on the flipside!
