SG1 NEWS

Well. 27th July 1997. Children of the Gods, the pilot episode of Stargate SG1, spinoff from the movie Stargate of a few years earlier aired on US TV for the first time. If anyone who watched that pilot ep on it's first ever screening ever says that they expected the show to last as long as it did, they'll be lying. 13th March, 2007, Unending aired on UK TV for the first time. And as of 9pm GMT on that night, Stargate SG1 as a TV series was officially scifi history.

The SG1 story isn't over quite yet though and I'm not shutting down the SG1 section yet. For starters, at least one SG1 regular is garunteed to turn up in Atlantis. Secondly, there are two SG1 DVD movies in the works.

The first of which is "The Ark of Truth". SG1 are headed to the Ori galaxy, looking for an Ancient artifact to defeat the Ori once and for all before they launch a mega attack on Earth. The good news here is that Tomin has defected and is now helping the people of the Milky Way out. The bad news is that the IOA have their own plans and they involves not trusting the former Ori soldier one bit. SG1 are thought to make allies with the anti-Ori underground during their mission.

Next up(and far more interesting sounding) is "Continuum". Ba'al is about to be executed by the Free Jaffa...when suddenly he dissapears, along with Teal'c and Vala, watching with the rest of SG1. Mitchell, Sam and Daniel race back to Earth, only to find that the Stargate program does not exist and Ba'al is about to invade with Teal'c as his First Prime and Vala(or rather Quetesh) as his queen. The System Lord has changed history, stealing Earth's Stargate in 1939 before the SGC got a chance to start up and what remains of SG1(possibly helped by Jack O'Neill) have to travel back to the past themselves and stop him!

And switching to general Stargate news, the Gate universe is unlikely to die with Atlantis. Apparantly there is a third SG series in the works and this one currently has the working title of 'Stargate Universe'. From what intel I've been able to get, the series will focus on a completely new set of Tau'ri characters based in the Orion galaxy with a bunch of really invincible bad guys. As in, they go on to activate the so-far mysterious 9th chevron. Where it takes them, no one knows.

Anyway, Jack, Sam, Daniel, Teal'c and Hammond. It was quite a ride.

SG1 is dead, long live Stargate!
