THE JACKAL

Having come off the back of reading a shortened version of the original novel a few years previously and the back end of the original film -I checked this film out.
Taking into account the translation from 60s France/Europe to 90s USA the film stuck better to the original than I expected.
As for the IRA angle, desperate times call for desperate measures I guess - the IRA are scumbags but taking into account this particular guy was already ex-IRA by the time he moved Stateside and was looking to start life afresh...put it this way, he wasn't going to be murdering civilians any time soon.
Overall though there was something missing from this film for quite a while you did get drawn into the Declan vs Jackal one-on-one late on.
